L'Arc ~ en ~ Ciel (ラルクアンシエル Raruku An Shieru?) is a group name and music of Japan homage to J-Rock. The band consists of Hyde (vocals), Ken (guitar), Tetsu (bass), and Yukihiro (drum). This music group founded by Tetsu in February 1991. The name "L'Arc ~ en ~ Ciel" is derived from a word in French which literally means "the arch in the sky" or "rainbow", the name is taken from the title of a French film ever watched by Tetsu.
In Japan alone, the band has sold more than 25 million copies of albums and singles.

Early formed
Osaka, about the beginning of the year 1991 two young men named Tetsu and Hiro forming a band. Tetsu role as follows vocals while bassist Hiro as a guitarist. At the time Hyde is still the guitarist in a band called the kiddies Bomb, which later changed its name to Jerusalem's Rod Hyde change positions and become a vocalist (although by then he was not interested in that role).

Then the formation of the earliest formed L'Arc ~ en ~ Ciel, Tetsu ie (bass leader of the band), Hyde (vocals), Hiro (guitar), and Pero (drums).
The name L'Arc ~ en ~ Ciel Tetsu proposed by himself inspired by a French film titled the same. L'Arc ~ en ~ Ciel taken from the French language which has meaning PELANGI.
Their first live appearance which was on May 30, 1991 in Nanba Rockets. Even when the stage was the owner thinking that L'Arc ~ en ~ Ciel will become very famous, and it proved a few years later.
The resignation of Ken Hiro & inclusion
In June 1992 for no apparent reason, Hiro resigned just before they will start the demo recordings. After various kinds of preparation they had done previously for the record, eg they had rented a studio and so forth, would be very foolish if they cancel it. And then persuade Ken Tetsu, his childhood friend for help in making a demo. Heavenly
